Hey there, I’m Nicole
I'm a children's author, a mom of four, and the woman behind The Chronicles of Cooper & Chloe—a series inspired by two very opinionated cats who happen to share my home.
I'm also someone who loves a good book, believes a workout can fix almost anything, and has been known to rearrange a room until everything feels just right.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I'm glad you're here!
How it all began...
I've always loved children's books. When my kids were little, I dreamed of writing one of my own, but for the longest time, that's all it was. A dream.
Then, years later, an acquaintance of mine published a book. I remember being curious about how she'd done it. Until then, becoming a published author had always seemed like something other people did.
Seeing someone I knew accomplish it made me wonder why I couldn't give it a try, too.
And that's when Cooper and Chloe entered the picture.
Well, technically, they'd already been running the household for quite some time!
I've always thought animals make wonderful characters for children's stories. They're funny, expressive, and have personalities all their own. And if you've ever lived with cats, you know they can be quite particular about how things should be done.
Cooper and Chloe certainly are.
Their quirky behaviour and everyday antics became the inspiration for Don't All Cats Eat Chicken?, my first children's picture book.
What began as a dream when my children were young became an opportunity to create something meaningful—stories I could share with children and families, and something of myself I could leave behind.
And the best part? I get to keep telling their stories.
A little more about me....
Before becoming a children's author, I studied interior design. I've always had a creative side and an appreciation for beautiful spaces, thoughtful details, and making things feel just right.
These days, when I'm not writing, you'll probably find me meditating, reading, trying a new recipe, or watching a baseball game (Let’s go Blue Jays!) I also love travelling, discovering new places, and spending time at home with my family.
I'm a mom of four in a blended family, and motherhood has been one of the biggest parts of my life. Now that my kids are growing up, I'm discovering what this next chapter looks like—for them and for me.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, I'm still finding new things to learn, create, and enjoy.
Let's keep in touch...If you've enjoyed getting to know me, I'd love to keep the conversation going.
The Nifty Nest is where I share a little bit of everything—motherhood, books, life behind the stories, and whatever else happens to be on my mind.
